Apnea International was established by Erez Beatus – Former world record holder (CNF 2001) and multiple national record holder. Erez has been has been involved in freediving on a professional level since 1997, acted as President of F.D.I and the VP of A.I.D.A and has taught thousands of students around the world.

AI is led by a group of passionate instructors focused on introducing people to the enjoyment of this amazing activity.

Apnea International  Promotes safe freediving through cutting edge education systems and top level instructors.  All AI instructors have many years of experience as freedivers in various capacities- from competitive freedivers to leading pro surfers, underwater photographers / spearfishermen. The Manual you are reading is the fruit of many years of research and experience.

AI’s philosophy of a strong focus on education over performance and quality over quantity – in individual dives as well as in courses – will resonate with any instructor who aims to empower their students to make safe and well-informed decisions in their diving.

AI courses focus on building an awareness of the individual student’s capabilities and creating a level of aquaticity that cannot be achieved by following generic rules. The training methodology is selected to create comfortable divers who make conscious, educated and safe decisions in their dives. Comfort level and awareness is a more important course goal than any particular number attached to a dive.
